I'm interested in using a Fishfinder to locate structure and deep or sounding fish. We fish out of a canoe, which has a trolling or gas motor attached. I would appreciate advice or experiences with different models, color/B&W screens, and whether a motor mounted transducer is sufficient, or a hull mounted transducer is preferable.

The Fishfinder would be used at slow speeds, or drifting: We rarely anchor, and don't go very fast.

Thanks a lot!up

I don't have a hobby, I fish.

G&G - do a search on the IT&T and the Boating boards. I've written volumns on the subject in several threads. There's one thread I recall that was like 10 pages long and was updated over the years as new products were introduced.

Try asking on the freshwater board. I think the guys there would have more knowledge for the type vessel you are looking to equip.
