Today was a very wet start to opening day out here in Greenport. We picked away all day on fluke and porgies. We had some nice fish hit the deck today; Brian Lyons of Wading River took the pool with a 7.75# rug. Other notable catches were Larry Miller of Seldon and Lionel Haynes of Sheepshead Bay with Fluke in the high 5# range.

Day after day we expect the bite to really heat up.

Today the steady pick of fluke and scup continued throughout the day. We had many anglers baiting up with clam here and there to fill up on the jumbo scup in the harbor. Anglers that worked at the rail were rewarded with a nice catch!!!

Here is Joe from Bayonne, NJ with two nice keeper fluke. Today the pool winner did not want his picture taken, the fish was in the 5# range.

The fluke bite continues to be a little slow but there were some nice fish landed today. The big news of the day is the porgies are thick in the harbor and on the feed. Porgy limits are achievable for anglers that choose to target scup. Who knows how long the porgies will last so come catch’em up while they are here!

Today the pool was won by Hiro from Manhattan, NY; the winning fluke today was just under 6#.

Tough day Really. Thick fog in the morning and not much of a bite. The afternoon change of tide improved things. The fluke developed an appetite on the beginning of the ebb tide, as did the porgies. Three fish over 5 lbs were boated, but overall it was a tough day.

We saw a very good increase in the keeper to short fluke ratio coming over the rails. The morning we picked away with a few quality fish hitting the deck and just like yesterday when the tide turned the bite turned on. We had a short window but we were there to make the best of it and put some quality fish in the box.

Today we had Ei Koike of Manhattan take the pool with a 7.30 pound rug, Teddy Komonowski of Yonkers landed a fat 5.1 pounder and regular Donna Freese of Shirley decked a nice 4.1 pound fish!

Fishing has stayed consistent, anglers landed nice fish in the pals but they had to put in a full day at the rail. Today we had a head in with the yellow eyed devil but they moved on after a while. Every day the fluke are biting at the right place at the right time and we have been there waiting.

Today’s pool went to George Pesce of Coran with a 5.5 pound fluke, we also had 8 year old Steven Bull of Mastic Beach out today, here he is with two nice keepers for the table.

Lots of wind, no rain, not too many anglers, and plenty of fish today!! Hideaki Jin from New Jersey decked a 6.55# fluke and Lloyd Robinson of Brentwood had a 6.05#. Ronnie Johnson of Islandia won the pool with a 7.20 lb rug, limited and also caught a 6.80 lb Weakfish. Lots of Blues today and some big Porgies. Most limited , and everyone went home happy!! Missed yesterdays 13# rug caught by a Charter boat near us, its nice to know there are some Giant Fluke in the area!!!

Well... today we got off the dock with some great anglers and the fluke were there waiting! Many had limits while some were just shy, the fluke are biting!

Howie Cohen had his limit with his best weighing in at 4.7#, Chris Hansen landed a fat 5.2#, Frank Michinski scored a nice 4.8 and Jimmy Nohara wrapped up his catch with a 6.4# rug...

Come catch'em up!

A strong wind from our least favorite direction, (west) made for a day of many short but productive drifts. 29 anglers wound up with 36 keeper fluke, and a mess of cocktail bluefish and large porgies.

Yoon Sang from Queens had a 5.45 fluke, and Dennis Peterson of Moriches close by with a 5.20. Not quite as productive as Thursday, but with the wind condition that’s understandable.

Lots of porgies today. Just about everyone went home with a big bag of boneless fillets. The rest of the day was spent fishing for fluke. Wind against the tide made for a little slower fishing than we've been used to, but most went home with at least one keeper.

Mr. Buckheit of the Bronx had the pool fish of 6.65 lbs. while on a drift, we noticed an 11.6 lb fluke caught on Capt Rich Jensens charter boat the" Nancy Ann". Nice to know that there are some Giant Fluke around. Maybe tomorrow we'll catch our double digit fluke.

Today we had a light crowd due to the holiday; everyone wanted to do a little scup fishing before fluking so off we went to the porgy grounds. In about 1 hour we had our limits and went fluking! Fluking produced some really nice keepers for the tables, everyone went home very happy! Great day out…

14yr old Aleks Cusumano of Eastport, NY took the pool today by an ounce or so, regular angler Ralph was a close second!

Cloudy in the AM and some lite rain in the afternoon. Awesome Porgy fishing for one hour in the morning filled the buckets and made for a lot of jumbo boneless fillets for the fares. Christine Hansen of Southold landed a 3lb 8oz giant porgy. Fluke were picky until the end of the day when a bit of a bite started. Dennis Tinnin of Kings Park landed a 8.55lb Fluke. Several other nice fluke were also landed at the end of the tide this afternoon.

Good day today. A lite bite with the porgies in the morning, and the best bite yet on the fluke this season. 35 fares had close to 60 keeper fluke today with the pool fish caught by Jong K. Song of Flushing. It was officially weighed in at WEGO bait shop in Southold at 9.20 lbs. Lots of great action today on the fluke and porgies and some cocktail blues thrown as well.

SORRY NO PICTURES TODAY...
