Yeah Steve--I'm in it. And the weather report will make it loads of laughs. Sounds like we'll need sash weights to hold bottom, and 5 oz. plugs to cut through the wind. Good luck.

good luck all

i have removed my self imposed ban on posting after offending the surf fishing gods and their mediteranean prophet (BTGL). I intend to take the biggest blue and bass so you all might as well stay home. Seriously though, good luck to all you brave souls battling some interesting conditions. see ya on the beach.

With the weather the way it is and the fishing as lousy as its been along the south shore, if you catch anything, legal, enter it Wink I was at Tobay this morning,Jones beach and Gilgo yesterday afternoon. Only thing being caught are small blues. We'll try again tonight.
Good luck gents

Yuck!!!

I spent about 4 hours in the surf this afternoon at JB6. First chunk in the water at 1:00 sharp. Five blues--the first maybe was 5#s--the others were smaller. Wind and rain blowing right in my face for the last 3 hours. Just a few other brave souls on the beach. Tried slinging eels but couldn't get them out far enough. Same with plugs. Severe E to W sweep to go along with the wind and rain. Ain't this fun?

Some very nice fish considering the conditions.

Congratulations to the winners.

The final results for the NY State Park, and Captree's Surf Fishing Tournament were in as of 1:00pm Sunday (10/17) afternoon. First place in the striper category went to German Caceres with a 35 pounder caught on a chunk at Demo and weighed in at 3:10 a.m. Saturday morning. Second place went to Ronald Turbin with a 33 pounder caught on a chunk and weighed in around 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Third place went to John Pavone with a 27.6 pounder caught on a chunk and weighed in Saturday. Some bass were caught but none placed on Sunday in very windy conditions. The bite was great over the weekend with many 15 to 20 pound fish caught all on chunks and mostly at Democrat Point. The wind conditions made it almost impossible to hold bottom so they tossed chunks and let it roll till it was time to cast again or a fish took the bait.

For the Bluefish catagory, first place went Steve Barrale,of the Paumonok Club for a 14.2 pounder caught on a chunk. Second place was George Perez with a 13.46 pounder also on chunk from the Moriches area. and third place went to German Caceres (first place bass winner) with a 13. 3 pounder caught on a chunk at Democrat Point. There were many 5 to 7 pounders caught, a good bluefish bite, with many calling to verify weights rather than weigh in fish and find out it was not big enough. Dean feels the State Parks system tourney has evolved with conservation in mind.

Congratulations guys

Conditions were nearly impossible, from driving rain, to lightning, to wind driven sand storm like conditions.

Participating in a contest with conditions, says alot about someones determination, anyone who participated should be proud...
