Hi,

With more rod builders doing butt inlay work I think it is time for a thread just for their pics. So feel free to do just that and let others see your fine craftsmanship.

Not the best picture, but you can see enough. I did these this past Monday for a Challenger 55XH in cobalt Blue, and a Challenger 60XH in Emerald Green. Both of these grips are 100% Hypalon. Glued them up on Tuesday.

I completed the wraps on both of these rods last night after I spoke with Neil, and Wednesday. I'm psyched after the NERBs Gatehring and seeing Rodwinder aka "The Machine" spit out a SW Blanket in no time, seein gQuint 3/4 finish a 3D Star, hearing Paul was working on an in & out, Mike McG looking for Foam, Ralph78 wanting to learn more about foam - I cannot let everyone else have all the fun.

My very first Bernie Cohen style inlay'd grip was the Bart Simpson on teh skateboard, with a cape. While it did not come out the wasy I had envisioned it, I'm gonna point some things out which are not noticeable at first glance:

Everything is reversed in the butt & foregrip. The Blue & Yellow. The color of the skateboard, Bart's clothes, and his cape. The direction Bart is facing in each grip is also reversed.

The Devil rod is my Blackfish rod, which I made for a CQ Halloween trip I put together - plan was for everyonne to make a rod for this trip, and wear a costume to fish in all day. I got a DEvil costume to match my rod. Trip was blown out after a TON of planning and a lot of money spent.

The Basketball rod - I really enjoyed making that grip, although it did not come out the way I wanted it to and I was disappointed at how crappy it was.

The Butterfly - My Mom loves butterflies - she collects, photographs, and paints pictures of them. I made this grip to match one of the butterflies she has in a Luctie display case. I am goingto make her another rod with Butterfly grips to match one of her paintings over the next couple of months.

One of my favorite Theme Rods - This is a Striped Bass Inlay in the foregrip, chasing a school of Peanut Bunker in teh Dec WRap. This was done on a Lami SMB114, one of the last production runs before they stopped making them (2003)

This was my first attempt at using a Bandsaw. HI MIKE D!!!!! Used Square stock, and made a LOT of cuts, and spent a LOT of time glueing. The grip at teh top is what it looked like in square form, the bottom pic is teh actual rod.

Rod was built for Gottog in 2004.

Neil, I have a few dozen pictures of grips to post. I'll let these sit up here before I post any more.

THanks. They do look better in person, especailly when you can see teh entire rod and how it flows from grip, to wrap, to guides. Going down to make anoteh Arrow pattern in Blue & White in a few minutes.
