Today was my best day fishing. Me and the Wife(Gina) headed out of Moriches, heading SE on our way to the Coimbra. 10 miles before we arrived we began to troll. 5 minutes into the troll we missed a small Mahi. 20 minutes after that it happened!!! 2 of the reels started screaming. Right away I knew they were not Bluefish. My wife was the first to get hers to the boat. The excitement seeing a BFT was indescribable. Keep in mind we are mostly inshore fisherman and have only caught a few sharks and 1 Mahi in the last 6 years trying to do the offshore thing. We have a 25ft Aquasport Walkaround with a single Yamaha on the back. So back to her fish... I did something very stupid. I dropped the gaff in the water. For a split second I thought about going in after it, but I quickly came to my senses. Thankfully I had a second smaller gaff on board. Gina was great on the rod. She made sure the fish didn't get under the boat. After a couple of more runs I finally sunk the gaff into him. We went crazy!!! Don't forget I still had one on. I got mine to the boat and Gina did a great job lipping the fish. Mine was returned safely and Gina's went into the box. The rest of the day we went 5 for 7 on BFT and also ended the day missing a big mahi that spit the hook on a jump. They may not be the biggest fish in the ocean but for us it was a huge confidence builder. I wanted to share the wealth so I got on 68 and told a few to come on over.

Check out
