Hey folks. New guy here and I thought I should start getting more active as the striper season starts. I live in Upper Manhattan and fish the shores and piers of Queens and Brooklyn mostly.

Fished some as a kid (and I've always loved to cook and eat our watery friends) but only seriously got into it last year hanging out with my father-in-law, who's a long time surfcaster, fishing out of Ft. Tilden. Was unemployed for a good part of last year so I got to spend a lot of time at Breezy and the various piers around NYC and I really got hooked. I'm working again now (thankfully) so I won't have as much time out as I'd like but for better or worse, I've become obsessed with the sea.

Anyway, happy to have found this site and I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can. Maybe I'll even meet some of you folks out on the water some time.

Good luck and have a safe and productive fishing season!

Thanks guys. I've been lurking for the better part of year and have learned a lot already. Read the reports every day.

Absolutely dying to get on the beach and try out my new rod n' reel: Bought a 10'6" Med-Heavy St. Croix Mojo with Penn Conquer 7000 last week.

Sure. If you point me to the nice fishy spot!

Thanks Fred. Wanted something that would last but wouldn't completely break the bank and my father-in-law loves his St. Croix. Picked it up at Peace Token in Woodside, nice people there. They threw in a bunch of rigs and some other assorted tackle too.

Going out to Floyd Bennett Field with my wife in the afternoon tomorrow to celebrate the season. Get me the Breezy parking permit and poke around the bay. up
