Does the full moon really have a bad effect on the blackfish bite during new moon and full moon cycles? Why?

If nothing else, the current runs faster. It takes more weight to hold bottom, and it is harder to feel the bite (at least for us mere mortal blackfisherment)

Fish bit like crazy yesterday at 11B. We only stayed there during slack through the first hour and 1/2 of the outgoing.

Such is the advantage of a private vessel...you can target a productive window when conditions are less than perfect...on a party Boat....well.. See Above

I try to avoid full and new moon phases. For the reasons of the faster current. Do they bite less, I wouldn't know?

Hey, it can't be Christmas everyday!!!!

I remember Tim Coleman telling me that as an experiment they fished deep water at full current, using three pounds of lead, and still caught the hell out of the tog.

The only way I would fish a moon tide in the sound is with nary a wisp of wind, be in the stern and I would have braid handy.

The problem occurs when you have wind opposing the tide...the anchoring is a mess, the seas are rough, and the current is firece. So you bounce and swing like a barn door. You cant build life. If you get a heave then they shut down.

Its all about conditions...if you can sit on the piece you will catch em

In the Ocean....I don't mind a moon tide at all.
