Heres the deal. my son found a Carolina skiff that drifted up after the storm. it sat at the end of the block till april of 2013,when we noticed the town was getting ready to destroy it. so we went and got it.Reported it to Nassau PD Marine. After a thorough search they deemed the boat delinquent and gave us a letter saying it was ours to keep, the owner been deceased since 2009. so heres the problem, the boat has no serial numbers and DMV doesn't know how to register. any help would be appreciated.

Ay yo Andy, if they found that it belongs to a guy that is deceased, cant they look in the DMV records and find out last time he registered it. Any hull registration numbers on it?
no hull #s on the boat ,but when PD looked into it they found the hull # in there records and gave them to me. The problem I have is the boat was registered in the owners name 2yrs after she passed away so we have no idea who has the registration to it.
My friend actually made a homemade boat and had it registered. I believe he had to show receipts for the material. A guy from the state had to come down and look at the boat.
There has to be a HIN number on the transome. That's what the pd used to track the owner. Use that number to register the boat DMV will tell you what numbers to put on the sides.
