It's been a long time since I've posted here but life's responsibilities have made it hard for me to hit the waters like I used to. I used to visit this site like an addict...

In any case, I've spent my share of days bitterly pulling up skate after skate on the beach instead of a fat striper but I get po'ed whenever I see people throwing these fish on the sand or rocks to just die. That's just wrong on many levels.

I tried skate over the winter and I have to say it was delicious. Actually it floored me. I'm actually going to try to prepare one myself and if it tastes anything like the skate I had at the restaurant I see no reason why people shouldn't eat them instead of throwing them away as bycatch.

If anyone's tried this already, please share!

At least the panic over the "Fiscal Cliff" proved the "Bush Tax Cuts for the Rich" montra was a load of crap repeated by Liars and ignorant lemmings.

It does taste pretty good. PIA to clean but it's worth it.

You can tell if your eating real scallops by looking for the part of the scallop that attaches to the shell. The cookie cutter variety just don't have it.
