here are my first two creations inspired by the great work Harvey does i decided to give tying a shot a bucktail and a squid

BMY,

Welcome to the forum. You do some GREAT work too. For the first two ties you are off to an excellent start.

As you well know by now, all it takes it patience getting the material into the proper position before tying it in.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Especially a picture of a fish at the end of your creation(s).

Please continue to post your patterns on this thread so we can watch your improvement over time.

thanks Harvey for the warm welcome and yes once theres a picture with a fish on the end with one of my creations i'm sure will be a very accomplished feeling and a picture will follow on this forum thanks again Harvey for the kind words means alot coming from an experienced person like yourself... looking forward to seeing more of your creations and others on this forum

i wrapped some wire along the shank of the hook learned from the first one i tied b4 haha thanks for the advice thou i do appreciate it... its nice to know that there are good people on here willing to give input and advice

Got some time in on the vise made a squid jig preparing and stocking up for fluke next year

BMY,

Give this some consideration. Wrap the shank of the hook with pearl Estaz Grande, and glue the eyes on where the superhair meets the hook bend. A squid's body is longer than the length of the tentacles. Most patterns have it in reverse.

The estaz will add some flash to the body segment of the jig. It will also let you create a more symmetrical body by wrapping the material over itself.
