It's more like 3 sea bass at 24 inches if we are lucky. Just joking but things aren't much better.

There was a joint meeting of the MAFMC and ASMFC advisors for fluke, scup and sea bass recreational measures.

Fluke are probably going to be managed by, as yet undefined, regions. Scup bag limits will probably go up, but we don't know by how much. When it comes to sea bass, we are screwed.

Why would you start the thread with such a comment? Was the discussion secret? Or do you just like making someone to have to ask?

I just don't get this place sometimes

Management requires a nine percent reduction over last year. There are one or two alternatives, but they would introduce some issues at different levels, depending upon which is considered. So, basically, assuming that the Council plays it safe, brace for impact.

As Paul said, the Management committee wants a 9% reduction in harvest, though only 6% is required by the numbers. It seems like the only way to accommodate that, on a coastwide basis, is to have an additional two weeks of closed season during the May to June or Sept. to Oct. IMHO we most probably will see an additional week closed in June and Sept.
