Sun 3-31-13
Decided to get up early again to get the Boat uncovered since It will.be calm n nice in the am... rain scheduled for pm and had to get to easter dinner by 5...
-------------------------------
53 - sunny until 2 pm
wind calm 5 mph - calm until 3 then 10-20.
-------------------------------
Got every thing down quick 11 am -1240pm
Calm winds made sliding the cover off easy.. nice and dry in pretty good shape - some rub marks but no holes..took a beating this winter folded it in 5 min.
-Cover off , very DRY inside even under the faom on the floor..
-structure down - put everything in the smashed shed..
- put the new?old covers on the console and lean post -- forgot how blue they are when New-- in 2-3 year or less they will be gey like the old ones.. I should get back ups while they are still around and cheap..
No maintenance, no cleaning -- but at least I am ready to do it.
So nice this week end --- Even heard the ice cream man go by!! it snowed 10 days ago...
the green buds just starting to peek out on everything..

5S70MHF Lake Test ~ 3-24-13
I should be considering opening the boat soon - but it's going to Snow again Monday...
looks like it will be a late unveiling.
Mid April? I have a bunch of things to do before then..
- FUEL Line
- Parents Fence Blew down - 10 sections to remove 10 to put up..2days easy..
- Marine guy Jared has to replace impeller -- make app asap
- kayaks For SALE!
- etc
Parents just returned from FL. Said it was the nicest winter they have had since they started going there 5 years ago. I need to get there....
Hit the lake and DICKS before going to there house to see them..
lake 1:30- 1:45
Rod performed well - althought I think the 1st Stripper Guide is TOO small..plus I forgot the PP Super 8 needs to get very wet before it casts well..weird.
2-330 Dicks - checked out some really Nice Baitcasters Lexa 300 , PT Smoke ( light) , Abu Toro NacL 60 - monster. $299 ouch..
finnally ended up just getting Reel Maint items ( reel butter and Ardent reel gaurd + the last Bunker oil bottle.. nice to a have a $25 gift cert..carole..
After Arriving - my Dad Said the fence blew down -- so this next Weekend - I ll be installed 10 sections of rotted bug eaten fence instead prepping the boat - not a big deal - I am happy to do it for them.

5S70MHF-G nearly complete ~ New project: BAIT CAST rod? ~ 3-21-13
I think this rod came out pretty good..- It feels like it will survive
All wrapped - poplar butt end on - cork sealed -
ready for epoxy this weekend..
test @ the Lake too....
--------------------------------------------------------------------
decided I need to build a Baitcasting rod for weakfishing.
I hate the trigger rods..
I might just mod and old Jarvis gold to start...just have to change the guides on a blown out rod..
Researching reels as well...$100-$300...I need one with syronized Levelwind as the Okuma Halogen is not and it make a huge annoying difference..
around 12 oz or less and a Power handle is a must as well..
St. Croix TIC70MHF Tidemaster Inshore Casting Rod:

Next to Gold Cermet, Silicon Carbide rings offer the best heat dissipation and the lowest friction of all the ceramics in use for fishing guides.
The SiC rings are combined with Gunsmoke plated S4 stainless steel frames offering a very light and strong frame.

St patties - 12yrs - SCIII lake test-- 3-17-13
had a Great Night @ Brian and Eva's house in Patchogue for St PAtty's - awesome food - 2nd yr in a row...Nice time.
Went to J& H @ noon and spent about 2 hrs there -- looking over things and measuring the guide spacing on 2 Legend Inshore ($320) rods and an AVID INshore ( $189) - very helpful to see the very small guides they use..with a low foot.
I bought a used Mojo Inshore MIS70MF (8-17lb)for only $60 ( $120 orig)
just needs a clear cost and it will look new. - Almost passed it up - put it down several times when @ the last moment just grabbed it and headed for the counter..- didnt notice it said INSHORE unitl I got home-- thought it was a Mojo BASS...much better deal that it's an inshore model.
Got home , had lunch and wrapped the entire SCIII 3S70MF
from 2-5:15pm
Had enough time to go and try it @ the Lake...
----------------------------------------------------------------
Cold over cast
39 degrees
Wind 10-12 nw
----------------------------------------------------------------
5:30-5:44pm - too cold out on the dock..
9 guides wrapped fast! worked very well..
3S70MF
-Casts the 3/8 with the small cigar mr twister as far as the 1/2 oz witht eh bass pro shadee shad
- felt pretty good - but I am still leery that it will snap like a twig under the pressure of a Bass..any size..

Spring Ahead 2013~~~~~ 3-10-13
50 degrees
5-10 NW
Bright Sun
Nice warming sunny day with snow still on the ground-- slowly melting off
Birds singing calling spring in....
Got the rod handles sanded but took too much off ..only one came out sort of well. But the new cheap $30 Drill work very very well especially the dial in speed..
now to get the guids on -- the 3S70MF (blue green $1 store stripes)feels like it wants to break already..which is the handel that came out the worst out of all the rods I have built thus far..not a big loss if it does..except for $$$...
