Looking up

Well, things are looking up. I finally got to use the boat for the last two weekends...one day each. It was a struggle to deal with but it went into a slip after I realized the trailering option was not going to work out this season. Nice to have a slip, but it just about killed my boat budget for the season. Keeping the fingers crossed regarding the mechanicals....

Last weekend (6/17) was the inaugural trip and it saw some fluke action with the larger (21.5" and 19.5") falling to Peruvian Spearing. Tried them again on Saturday (6/23) without any luck. Early wind v. tide conditions weren't good so I gave up and headed for the harbor where I anchored up and worked on the cabin and installed a new VHF...new antenna is next. Also had a great nap waiting for the tide to turn. Ran back out to the Bay and conditions were much better but the fishing wasn't. Mostly short strikes which turned out to be cocktail blues. I found this out when, in frustration, I rigged up a bait with a trailing hook... No fluke at all...Water filled with garbage.

Had a trip planned for Sunday, but spent the day at home waiting for Cablevision who never showed....grrrr. Now I have to take time off work.

So, the season is finally underway.... Now I just have to find that first Striper
