Rapala Pro Bass Fishing Game
Oct 15, 2010 by Rob Pavlick

the rod and reel for Wii

The most popular video games out there are usually competitive sports games. Madden NFL, Tiger Woods Golf, and even the one-on-one fighting games are all about winning. There are many directions you can take with a fishing video game, but I think the competitive element of a tournament ads fun and excitement to the game. Rapala Pro Bass Fishing from Activision is a game available for all the major video game consoles that brings the excitement of a freshwater fishing tournament to your living room.

I played the game on a Wii console. Like the hunting games out there that come with a gun to shoot at the screen, Rapala Pro Bass Fishing comes with a wireless rod and reel controller that better simulates the real thing. You can manipulate the rod to create action on your lures and when a fish goes for your bait, you must snap the rod to set the hook. Once hooked, you must move the rod to the left and right in order to keep your fish under control, which in this case is the center of the TV screen. Yuo can control speed with the crank as well.

You also have control of the bass boat. You literally move around a body of water until you find a big body of fish on your fish finder. Fish busting on the surface and birds are also indicators of good fishing spots. When you find a spot, your cast accuracy and the action you put on the lure will all influence whether you hook up with your target species.

The game also has two players, so have a crew party on a windy day and compete in some freshwater action! For more information, check out
