A few guys from work booked a bass charter aboard the Philly D, out of Freeport, NY on 8/7/06. We set up around the fleet, and started snagging bunker. The bite was slow at first, so we moved about a mile east away from the rest of the boats. After finding a few unmolested pods of bunker, it was nonstop all day. At on point we had three guys hooked up, all with bass over 31".
By the end of the day we ended up w/ 8 bass to 42", and a slew of monster bluefish. Thanks Capt. Phil for an awesome day.
As long as those fish are put to good purpose I see nothing wrong with taking a charter limit. But when non fish eaters freeze their catch for future whatevers and end up throwing them out I just cringe. My two cents
