Hit the spot in N. Westchester a few times since opening day. Caught fish on all tides (oddly enough had best run on outgoing almost dead low- 5 fish total 3 keepers- all safely released). Fish are a good size this year ( all fish 16-24 inches)as opposed to last year this time when we were catching only 12 inchers.

Weather is not cooperating but able to squeeze in some time. Added bonus is that there are very few perch with the low water temps. At a buck per bloodworm that helps. Looking forward to a great season.

water tempeture is definitely the issue,I'll be out off the boat tomorrow upper NY harbor on structure ,all the shorties are fun but not really any must be in to the resident fish up there.Ever try swim shades?

Swim shads

Lures generally don't work in N. Westchester open water, however they will work in some of the rivers especially late in the year. Bloods and Sands the best for this type of fishing.
And good call on the local's- you are correct. These are the fish that were here through the winter. When temps rise( soon)the spawners will come through. Can't wait.

Congrats. You're being well rewarded for getting out there in this awful weather.

i decided to post here instead of opening a new thread.
so I was north of Tappan-zee yesterday from 6 am till 11 am on outgoing.
wind chilly from typical NW this time of year. I had 2 rods - one with bunker (nothing there - catfish still sleeping, lol)
on bloods i had an action toward the low tide - hit in about every 20 minutes or so. most fish that I've caught were 17"-18" range. one true keeper though - 22". not too many guys i guess because of chilly weather
no white perch yet - so all bloodworms going for stripersup
will go again in around Friday and will post
