Sunday was a beautiful day on the water. My first throw to make bait was more diverse than any I have encountered. Two baby weakfish (a nice sign) two half size bunker, a small bluefish and the rest adults.

Obviously, Manhasset Bay schools do not discriminate.

We set up to chunk among some bunker schools, which were easy to spot in the calm conditions and pulled a nice 35" bass at about 7 am, followed by a bunch of blues until the tide died.

I did run into the fastest moving bunker school I have ever encountered. It was heading east at 5-6 mph. You could see the fish swimming their hearts out just below the surface , but it was impossible to stay with it - and no, I was not the one chasing them. I initially positioned the boat so they would come to me and they blew right past me. I gave chase ahead of them for a minute or so, but eventually gave up.

The photo below is a school that passed by my anchored boat.

Nice catch -- especially during this heat wave.

BTW, I read your Montauk update. The A/C on my center console was working great all morning as long as I stayed out of the marina LOL!
