At long last, after an interminable winter, the boat went back in the water today. A far cry from last year’s March launch, when I landed my first bass of the season in 60+-degree weather, today was sunny, but cold and relentlessly windy. Water temps were 42-43. Air temps around the same. But the wind… the wind! WNW 15-20 with gusts to 30. Pounded my way back to JFK, hoping to just see a mark on the finder. Nothing. Nada.

Keep checking water temp readings. As soon as it gets above 45-46, you should start to see some action.
