Fished the last couple hours of outgoing in the bay. Water was clear, wind light to moderate from the east and north. Slipgut was a bit of a problem in some spots. Fish were picky, my guess is that they were on grass shrimp, so you had to work for your fish. Had mine on SS 5 1/4" yellow/white needlefish (early) and also a small shad head with a 4" fin-s. For whatever reason, teasers didn't seem to do much. Kept one for the table. No pics, we all know what a 32" fish looks like already.

nice

great to see you back to posting...lead by example is what they say right. just enough info to help where it really matters. Not location ! but tide, moon phase, wind direction, and what they were biting along with possible bait around. ocean vs bay to boot..

thanks rich.

Lets hope some of the old timers come back and do the same.

Clearly, you must be right. I'll make sure to carry a camera with me from now on, in order to document my catches and validate my skills as a fisherman to you.Roll

good synopsis on the western bay .

like some have been saying , "we all know what a 32" bass looks like". at least those who have caught their share .

it's too bad we don't get to see you slaying the dragon with your Ninja Warriors though , and what a handsome devil you are .. Toungue...just kidding .

we've seen enough pics of googan dorks holding up schoolies too...kidding..Smile...

i know you've paid your dues out there on the night tides ..

that 32" Bass looks to be a plentiful stock of a good spawn year . i'd say probably Hudson River stock .

let's be good to it . it's being good to us . it will continue to be good to us....if it survives..

Well since you are so eager to see a fish, most probably because you can't catch one on your own, the best I can do is give you a picture of the head, which I will give to my favorite sushi chef tonight, for soup. I took the liberty of extending my middle finger, so you can get proper scale on the size of the head.Roll

"my guess is that they were on grass shrimp"

I was at the newly expanded Outdoorsman in Rockville Center today (they REALLY did a great job expanding the place... caters to the surf rats...

Anyway - there were a couple of guys there saying the same thing, they were "killing it" on grass shrimp.

Total hearsay, and I did not evesdrop on much of the conversation, but I did hear about the grass shrimp.

Mantis shrimp are great bait. You should try catching those next time.
