Report location New York > New York Bight > First Cast - Wow it's Windy!
Fishing method Boat
« Previous Report Next Report »

Headed out towards Breezy this morning with Scott P. We found loads of life and even more wind. 10 to 15? Yeaaaaaaah riiiiiiight....

Wind and current had us ripping along at nearly 3 knots on the drift, making it tough to stay on the fish or get to the bottom.

I stuck with the jig for an even dozen bass while Scotty worked the flyrod and had 4 on the fly plus another 5 or 6 on bucktails.

Coming back through steep 3 to 4 footers that were about 10 feet apart was interesting....I have to go get some more ibuprofen now.

I have a few openings left & the bass are on. Call if you want to get out before it's all over.

You're not kidding, we headed out about 9:30 with 4 kids on the boat and had to turn back. 20-25kts was more like it and some 3-4's in the bay. We may try again tomorrow.
