I got the call this morning from Captain Tommy Cornicelli around 7:30am. After a little running around dealing with getting ready for Earl to possibly show we jumped in my boat to catch the incoming tide in the inlet. There was one other boat out there with us and we had steady action on every drift using Spots and Croakers.
We ran out of Croakers fast due to the Blues mixed in and my buddy Frank hogging them in the bow; by the end of the tide we boated 3 Bass and 1 Blue. We lost at least one to two on ever drift. My bag is completely empty of hooks, dam Blues!
All I can say is the inlet was just beautiful today. Once you motored past the jetties (which we didn't go far) it was sick! The westside of the inlet had some serious water building! Sorry I have no pictures of the inlet conditions.
I use a fishfinder rig, 3oz of lead and at least a 6' 50# leader (in the inlet). For the smaller baits a 6/0 inline circle or J-Hook what ever you prefer. On the larger baits 8/0 either hook style.
