Report location New York > Montauk > Coxes Ledge - Summer Cod
Fishing method Boat
« Previous Report Next Report »

Took a ride to Coxes Ledge for summer Cod - caught them on both clam and jig. Tallied 28 keeper Cod to 22 lbs and 2 Pollack on the day. The morning bite was hot - but the keeper ratio was low. Tons of shorts - had over 100 shorts on the day. As the day progressed the size got better. A few teen sized fish, average keeper size @ 8 lbs.

High hook Ron had 8 keeper, low hook Tom had constant bergall and hackle head harassment. At one point Tom's hand were so badly slimed up ( he was trying to catch up and not taking time to de-clam) that a Cod bit hard and yanked a nice shimano Trevala? right out of his hands. The next fellow down kindly caught it 120' down 5 minutes later and saved Tom's $300 set up 8).

Newbie Sean scored a verrry nice Pollack. Anybody want to do a Cod trip or Cod / Shark combo - gimme a call!
