Of course the one day they murdered herring on the pier my starter goes and I have to get towed to the mechanic etc.etc.

I was still very very happy to hear that the herring arrived at Canarsie Pier in droves. My most reliable source claims at least 20+ for each of the approximate 15 fishermen on the pier. Action was from 11:30 to 2:30pm. Sorry this is all secondhand but I did verify a few bagfuls of herring (fresh) from my source.

I was told once they arrive they do not leave until March so I guess I have plenty of time to fish.

If this was a run of blues or bass then I would be freaking out but I did want to break in my Daiwa 1600c after 18+ years in the garage.

Wishing everyone the best of luck...

OUCH! After all of your well-intentioned, relentless and accurate reporting, you are bound to get slammed by some jerk who will lay claim to the pier by way of inheritance from a great uncle, and you will learn what’s meant by:
"No good deed goes unpunished".
All of us who read and enjoyed your postings wish you well, and full buckets.

Thanks for the great report! There was a slower bite last night there too. I only stood for a little bit but every one had at least a few fish when i left.

Woohoo!

Thanks, Lotek! I suspect a couple of us Sebago Canoe Club will be putting in a reappearance one of these weekends.
