Nice fish Bob! That one is a slob. Hoping to get out Friday but they're calling for NW winds to 30 knots. All my inshore pieces are in the lee from E/NE winds, but maybe I'll find something fishable.

Nice catch!!
Hi,
I've lived in Huntington for about 22 years and up until 2007 I had a boat to fish from. Now I'm stuck on the beach and it's killing me. Do you know of any decent black fishing spots from shore? If you don't want to put on this thread can you email me at natbosco@optonline.net?

I live in Huntington and do alot of surffishing too. You can only really catch blackfish from the beach in the spring. But you can always go on the jamesjoseph out of the harbor.

Blackfish from shore?
The west end of the LH causeway looks good but I never see anyone there.
The cash is very, very tight right now so a party boat fare will take a big bite out of the weekly budget.

Surffishing
Yeah blackfish and even flounder from shore in the spring. And usually the spots where no one is are the best. Makamah for instance is my favorite and at most I see 4 people fishing there. Around now chunking for stripers is good cuz theyve all moved inland to fatten up for winter.

Hey guys. Thanks for the input. I'll give it a try and post my results.
BTW, have you guys tried Lloyd Harbor on the outgoing. Got a few hits on chunks and rubber shad last week. Nothing big and the fish were spotty. I've been there when all hell breaks loose. Only one problem. You can't predict the action like some other spots so you may make that 20 min drive and find zip most of the time.

Need a change
Fished Mill Pond and Cold Spring Harbor. 2 beautiful days, no bait in the water, no fish to be caught. I need a change. Hey Smedfish, I take your advise and head south.

That is a unique way to hold blackfish....
You won't catch 'em laying in bed.....
