Went out just before first light yesterday. Casting at a drop off, I got nothing for an hour or so and decided to move. I was going to try one more spot before calling it a day. The first cast in that spot I got my first fish just after dawn. Lucky thing since I left my light home. Saw a guy in a kayak heading towards me. He decides to set himself IN the spot I was casting to, right over the dropoff of the sandbar. I made a few casts around where he was throwing his tin. Then took a short break. I realized he wasn't going to catch anything anyway. As soon as his tin hit the water he would smoke the thing back in. Like he was after albies. So I waited him out. It took five minutes for him to move. The second he moved off the bar I made a cast to the same spot he was sitting and got me a fish. I figured he would swing back to do the same thing but he left. Maybe the fact he had no gloves on and a light jacket persuaded him. Anyway, one more shorty after that and it was time to get my day started.

Three fish, one minor inconsiderate annoyance, and some terrible football made it a nice day off.

It was the one you can't park at. There are rocks by it. Plenty of saltwater also. There were three fish there but I scared them off. That should clear it up.

Your best bet is to scout out your own spots. But I would try in the spring when there are fish here.

Huntington Beach

Hey Fellas,
Just because acepop asked a question about huntington beach, you didn't have to respond with the wise cracks. He is new at the sport and I'm sure you weren't so smart when you started. We welcome any new fisherman to the sport.
