This past week I fished from the skiff in and around Mount Sinai Harbor and out front of Cedar Beach, drifting the ledge.

I also had the chance to fish out and around West Meadow Beach. Covering a lot of water with my kayak.

Fluke and schoolie stripers can be found just about everywhere! Bigger fish until the trawlers aka "draggers" show up and then it's tough pickings. My recommendation is to find a location where they are not!

Fluke are feeding on bigger sandeels around 3 inches or larger. So match that hatch to increase your chances. Schoolie stripers are feeding on the smaller sandeels in the 1 inch to 2 inch range. So match that hatch perfectly and by end of the day, your arms will be plenty sore. I say perfectly because they're being very finicky like last years late season Albies. These little guys are everywhere, fat, healthy, and strong fighters.

I'm calling it early, "this is going to be a record-breaking fishing season!" Everything is lining up perfectly. Weather first, baitfish second (to hold them), and now when the big fish hit our region. They have a reason to stay!

As of this report, the bigger stripers are already showing up just a day later! So keep on the lookout for next weeks report, get out there and fish, send in your reports, and spread da aloha spirit!

Dan - great report!

I saw Outdoor Tom present a fluke seminar at Emma Clark Library last night. He says the fluke bite is about to turn on in our area. Can't wait to get out there again!

Enjoy father's day with your beautiful family on Sunday.
