Fished the incoming and outgoing tides in New Rochelle. Ended up with five catch and release Stripers {shorts 4 were 20-24}and two Flounder at the bottom of the outgoing. I started out with hooks I bought from a big box store and was getting hits but no hook ups. I dug into the tackle box and tied some rigs with gamas and floro leader and bam most every hit resulted in a hook up. It was great to see parents and grand-parent taking their kids fishing one little guy wanted to catch a fish so bad I let him pull in one of the striper shorts he was so proud it reminded me of when my dad started taking me fishing. Pop taking me out gave me something to do instead of getting in trouble and created a bond that can not be broken we were our own fishing team. We all as anglers have a duty to pass on to others what was so freely given to us. Take a kid fishing. Thank you to the nameless City Island Tackle shop [That happens to be located next to Dunkin Donuts on City Island]for stocking the right gear and fresh bait at the right times. Support your local bait and tacle shops they are not in the business to rip you off they are in the business to help you succeed. It's the big boxes that sell you crappy gear they are in the business to get your money. Local Bait and Tackles,Party and Charter boats are in the business to please you. Your success is the best advertising for these guys. Can't wait for Fluke and Porgies and of course the always fun Sea Robbin Round Ups. Good Luck to all stay safe.
