I’ve got a new boat to recommend to those who want to fish Jefferies and Tillie’s without paying charter prices, and the boat is the Clipper from the Yankee Fleet the boat and Captain Josh and mates Anthony and Dave are the bomb.

Well to the point, it was with a little trepidation that I embarked for Gloucester with

reports of Tornadoes in Massachusetts and the Yankee Fleet office close and unable to

provide information regarding Thursday’s trip until reopening at four A.M. Thursday morning. I had been following their reports online and with a prediction of ten to fifteen MPH West wind followed by gust up to twenty-five MPH after three P.M., I was desperate to make the trip.

At about twelve o clock I said what the hell gassed up and arrived in Gloucester at a little after four A.M. when the office opened and said that the trip was a go and that we would have a beautiful day. My primary target was Haddock but I was just happy for another day on the waters of Stellwagon/Tillie’s/Jeffries so I just looked forward to anything pulling on my line.

We steamed two hours to the fishing grounds for the first drop, Anchored up and did not move and proceeded to have “STUPID FISHING” for the next four hours with guys wanting to call it quits and wondering why we had to complete the marathon trip.

We had Cod flying over the rail on ever drop with Haddock in the mix and Pollock for those who wanted to jig and a few strays Pollock’s for the bait fisherman also. Just stupid fishing, where you could take breaks because we were fishing in 250’ of water and come right back to the “same as it ever was” when you stopped.

Even John Bowie would have had a great time as novice and experience fisherman quickly reached their limit. In closing, I have to give a big shout out to the Captain and mates who were there to bleed and ICE (a party boat first for me) all the fish, clear tangles and expertly administering head shots Gaffs to all the fish.

What else can I say but it was an EXCELENT OYEAH day for the OYEAH man, stay thirsty for new fishing adventures my friend’s nuff said and I’m out.
