The Best of the Best
Our “straight shooter” Products Editor never fails to amaze me. This year he has outdone himself with his recommendations for the “best of the best” in fishing equipment no matter what type of fishing you do. It is a logical presentation of excellent equipment only exceeded by the best equipment for your fishing success. story

So we lost our shot at black sea bass when their season closed for 2014 last week. And now fluke is done for as well so I guess that leaves tautog as the main bottom-fishing target the rest of this year
As many here know, the Cupsogue beach pavilion burned to the ground on the night of September 13. As many here also know, this sad event is irrelevant to the many surfcasters who use the beach and the inlet access road for fishing
Although the buoy in Nantucket Sound reads in the mid-sixties right now, water temperatures in Cape waters have been trending downward for the past couple of weeks. My New England Patriots redeemed themselves with a win in Minnesota Sunday but sure got their heads handed to them the week before in Miami. Reminds me of those high school Saturday afternoons at Richfield Springs in upstate New York when we went at it with our chief rival Cooperstown
Before I get to the new clips, I want to pass on some beach access news. It's a rare day when Piping Plovers and environmentalists team up to actually preserve beach driving privileges, even if inadvertently and maybe only temporarily
With another fall run just around the corner, I think it's the perfect time to talk about our beloved striped bass. The plain truth is fishing for striped bass isn't nearly as good as it was just a few years ago
"It was the Law of the Sea, they said. Civilization ends at the waterline
My companion didn't quite manage to turn a cloudy sky blue, but the cussing he was doing must have come pretty close.Ever find yourself fishing in some far off part of the world and the rod and reel you're having to work with just won't get the job done? That's where my friend found himself on the morning he was doing such a thorough job of practicing his profanity
Hogy Heavy Minnow Jigs will catch just about anything that swims, especially in deeper water. They can be cast and retrieved or simply jigged vertically
Think Rio, and the recent World Cup matches of 2014 may pop into your mind. Think ahead to 2016, and the Summer Olympics may conjure up the second largest city in Brazil, where the events are to be held in Rio de Janeiro
