RECENT FIELD EDITOR REPORTS

I never really got to know my dad until he finally retired from his labors and was able to join me on some of my fishing adventures.I cherish the time we spent together
Our South Jersey backwaters are exploding with life! Tackle-testing bluefish are popping up all over, striped bass action continues to improve daily, summer flounder are stacked in the skinny water and the season's first few weakfish are just beginning to show up. If you haven't been out yet this season, (in my best Ellie Goulding voice) what are you waiting for? It's time to hit the water!I love everything about this time of year – I am in love with the month of May
Shimano's Stradic 1000 FJ Shimano's Stradic 1000 FJ freshwater spinning reel is but one example that "Good Things Come in Small Packages." The FJ 1000 is the lightest of the 1000 through 8000 series
We're in that hazy part of the season where rumors abound, fish are scarce and anglers strain at the bit, anxious to wet a line and tangle with newly arrived striped bass. But that ain't happening just yet, Bubba, not with water temperatures still hovering in the mid to high forties
Providing top quality shades at an affordable price, the DVX Vista is now available with Polarized Green Mirror Lenses providing anglers with occupational grade eye protection and sharp, crystal clear vision in a wide range of conditions. The key to these stylish shades' performance is advanced polarized lenses combining a versatile Amber tint with an emerald green multi-coat mirror surface
Spring has sprung and bass are feistier than ever in Cape Cod ponds. Striped bass are just a couple weeks away from beginning to trickle back to the Cape from points south, a trickle that will soon become a torrent of fish swarming into Cape waters and onward to northerly destinations
Any hope that a warmer than usual April would come along and bail us out of the potential season delaying effects of the brutally cold and snowy winter have passed. We're most of the way through the month and there's been only a handful of warm days
Wow! Sunshine and 75 degrees sure feels good. It's hard to believe we had ice-covered waters just a few weeks ago
Here's a message from the folks at the Division of Marine Fisheries that will certainly affect recreational striper fishing this season: April 2015 The Division of Marine Fisheries (MarineFisheries) has adopted a 1-fish recreational bag limit for Atlantic striped bass in 2015; the recreational minimum size limit remains the same at 28". This bag limit reduction (from 2 fish) was undertaken to reduce recreational harvest in Massachusetts by at least 25%, as required by the interstate management plan
We are now into serious melt-out-time when it comes to the Cape's ponds and lakes. Open water access has improved by leaps and bounds since we started seeing air temperatures soaring into the fifties and sixties over the past couple of weeks
