| The Snap |
In
order to get that extra few feet of distance, we need the leader to extend
straight and true. The final tug of the line when the forward cast is almost
fully extended and the line straightens is critical.
Strip enough shooting line into your basket so that the line just snaps
tight to the reel at the end of your cast. This shock is sent to the leader,
shooting it straight and turning the fly over.
Strip out too much line, and your cast might go limp. Too little line will
result in too much of a shock and your line may actually spring back toward
you. |
