Salty Fly Rodders of New York
[Link
to The Salties website]
The Salties are one of
the original saltwater fly fishing clubs in the country. Some of their
members have been wetting lines in the salt since the 1950s. They meet
at the Queens Botanical Gardens located 1 mile north of the Long Island
Expressway on Main Street in Flushing, Queens) at 8 p.m. Meetings are
held on the first Monday of the month, except for the months of January,
July, and September when the schedule changes to the third Wednesday of
the month. Fly tying and/or casting demos take place before every meeting,
there's usually a prominent guest speaker.
Every spring, the Salties host one of the premier
fly fishing events in our area -- a three-day conclave on Long Island's
North Fork.
