I like and recommend the "3x8" knot, or at least that's what I call it. First shown to me by the imfamous CaptXXX, scourge of the Canyon deeeeep drops, it is actually very easy to tie.
Start by making an 8 turn 8" Surgeon's Loop in your braid. Draw it up slowly, so that it makes a nice neat, low profile knot. Next attach you mono backing (or front leader) to your braid Surgeon's Loop with an 8-turn Albright.
So its a 3x8 knot, in my book. Works very well, never ever slips and flys thru the guides.

A long while back I found a website that had a knot that was like a reverse uni to uni knot to connect braid to mono (the website is gone now). It looked and tied almost exactly like two uni knots except when it was done the tag ends were at the center of the knot like a blood knot. IMO this is great knot, but I can't seem to get it right without the pics.
Anyone know this knot? Otherwise, I'll be working on it all night tonight to get it tied for tomorrow.
I still don't know why you would put that sticker on the stop sign at walgreens???
I've always used the uni-uni probably because it is the only one I've mastered. Its a bit clunky with heavier mono and isn't especially easy to tie. Gonna have to learn these new methods...
AxBeetle,
There are variations of the basic blood knot and also a bend knot that look like that.
You may be able to find a copy of Bob McNally's "Fishermen's Knots, Fishing Rigs, etc" and some of the larger tackle shops. That might answer your question.
