I can't take this anymore! I'm insanely jealous of you guys! I'm so jealous, I may have to go somewhere to do some tuna fishing and I'll post pictures on the offshore report. It's not really "offshore" but will be 9,000 miles off Gloucester so I will consider it offshore. I still want to know why Phil had to have his picture taken with Tim's big cod?? Did he have any keepers?

Moderator, Thank you for clarifying that. He must have been using mono instead of braid as well.

I can't believe his post got there a microsecond before mine. Did anyone else in this elite group use mono? I think not! We'll having Phil use braid nets by next season.

Thursday's Jig-a-thon

First, thanks to Kil for setting up this charter!! And many thanks to Mr. Choi for an awesome spread of food!!

You could not ask for a better day, weather wise, in Febuary to go fishing in the GOM. And the fishing was one of the best days I have seen in quite awhile. One jig pretty much did it for me, a shiney Lav12. The fish were eating it all day, thanks Mr. Lavjigs!!! LOL. Also managed a few doubles with a Codzilla52 fly, thanks Matt!!!

Looking forward to the next trip!!

So let me get this straight, cod fishing is done in deep water anywhere from 100ft to 300ft with heavy tackle. Is there a button I can press that will bring the line up?

I have fished for cod in waters up to 600 ft., Barb. You can push a button on some reels and they will wind up your fish, but that takes all the fun out of it. You have to try cod fishing, good time, and good eating!!
