OK guys, it's that time of year again. Good luck to everyone, enjoy yourselves, and be safe.
Same as last year, the entry fee is $50 and there are two Calcutta's. One is for $100 and the other is for $150. You may enter just one, both, or none. Like in the past, both Calcutta's are for the largest single fish, Mako or Thresher.
Like last year, I will also see if I can round up some additional prizes for 2nd., 3rd., etc. place winners.
MakoMatt
Rules and Regulations for the 8th. Annual MakoMatt/Noreast Mako-Thresher Big Dog Shootout
1. Minimum size for all fish 150 lbs. Mako & Thresher only.
2. Contest begins 6:00am June 1st., and ends midnight July 31st.
3. $50 entry fee for boat, paid in advance of tournament starting date, fish must be caught on the officially registered boat. You must also register in the weigh-in station where you expect to weigh the fish. Weigh-in stations must be known in advance. For fish to be eligible, the person registering here at Noreast.com must be on board the registered vessel when the fish was captured. You may register more then one weigh-in station. Checks should be payable to cash and dated August 1, 2010. Send me a PM, for mailing address as to where to send the checks. This year I will be collecting/holding them. Boats entered must be approved by the Tournament Committee.
4. You can enter as many fish as you like during the contest, as an example, if you catch a 230 Mako on June 9th., and register that fish but catch a 310 on July 24th., you can also register the 310 fish. Prize money will be split evenly for largest of each species. If no one catches one of the eligible species, but someone catches one of the other, all prize money goes to the winner of that fish. Should there be a tie, ---- ties split.
5. One money prize for each species, largest fish. You must have a Weigh Slip filled out, signed, and/or officially stamped by the registered weigh in station. Weigh in slips are available here at Noreast. If your local B&T has printed weigh in slips showing name, address, etc., these are acceptable as well. Freeport Tuna Club weigh slips are acceptable. If you belong to a club like this and have your own weigh-in slip, these may be OK as well, just ask here. The bottom line is we are looking for a respectable B&T place to weigh the fish, home scales no good, etc. Should there be any disputes, George will settle, his decision is final. Posting photos is encouraged and should a dispute arise, it may help your case.
6. Charter boats are eligible to participate in the tournament, however, they can only fish in the tournament when fishing for pleasure, meaning, no charter on board, they are not conducting business. Any vessel entering the Shootout and does run charters must state so when signing up. A Noreast.com member can however, charter a boat if the person so desires, and enter the tournament, and this must be noted when the person signs up for the tournament, that he/she would like to enter the tournament and will be chartering such and such a boat on such and such a day/days.
7. No refunds on the $50 entry fee regardless of anything, even if it blows 30 kts. for 61 days and no one gets out. Should there be no winner, all moneys would be donated the Send a Kid Fishing Fund. Calcutta money not included, and checks would be returned or destroyed.
**8. Rod and reel only, I. G. F. A. rules apply in as much as this is open to sportsman, recreational fishermen. Commercial fishermen, longliners, etc., not invited. You can harpoon a fish caught on rod and reel, more then 1 angler if you wanted on the fish is OK, rod can touch the gunnel, etc., No shooting of sharks permitted, i.e., no hand guns, rifles, shotguns, bang-sticks, etc. Any problems, George will decide.
9. Fish caught while participating in another tournament are eligible.
10. Prize money distribution: Approx. 90% of the $50 entry fee money will be returned as prize money. Approx. 10% of the money would go to the Send a Kid Fishing Fund. It works like this: For every 10 $50 checks received, 1 goes to the fund. We round up based on 6. Example, if 40 boats registered the charity gets 4 checks, $200, 45 boats registered the charity gets 4 checks, $200 46 boats registered the charity gets 5 checks, $250 Balance of money is prize money. Checks selected for charity are random.
10. There are 2 optional Calcutta's for the single largest fish caught, Mako or Thresher. You may enter one, both, or none of the Calcutta's. Calcutta entry is $100 and $150 All money going to the winner of the largest fish. Calcutta moneys are paid in advance with a separate checks dated August 1st. If there is no winner, checks are either returned, or destroyed.
11. The top three winners from each division get a BIG DOG LOGO
12. Since all potential problems cannot be foreseen in advance, management reserves the right to add/modify the rules if needed. Should the need arise George will settle any disputes.
