In back dating reports trying to see patterns in weather, tides and movement of fish there are even a lot of reports that start from regular fisherman full of info and then become charter captains and shut down there quality reports - Fishing was insane, fished the Atlantic ocean for multiple species, see photo, come on my boat. Has it always been like this?

Don't worry, President Obama's fishing reports czar will be coming for Noreast soon surprise

In the meanwhile, follow MakoMike's,or even better Freddy Azaiter's advice Toungue

The reports section has become a huge PITA for a lot of us, but it pays the bills so they allow it to remain. Too many jokers feel the need to massage their ego in a public forum and by doing so blow up spots on a fairly regular basis.

WESTERNSOUND:

I think you are also seeing a trend that happens every year during blackfish season, when people tend to become more secretive, private boats tend to get pulled and fewer private anglers are out there. Certainly everyone can find some middle ground between GPS numbers and "Northern Hemisphere"

There have also been a number of threads where people are complaining that a report was too specific.

Try to say you caught fish on the shore of Little Neck Bay in the spring and see how many complaints you get about giving up that "secret" spot.

I find the reports are best used for the "are the fish biting" kind of info.
I probably check them most in the beginning of each bass season (spring/fall), If I see a couple of bass reports in my area then I know the season started and the fish are in.

I never drink anything stronger than gin before breakfast.

Oh,lol! Yeah, like I said, King Obama couldn't pay me enough Toungue!

That's exactly why I wrote that, there seems to be a "czar" for every single aspect of American life these days, so why not a fishing reports czar while we're at it surprise.

5% of fisherman catch 95% of the fish, 100% of them never post. Why would they?

I catch a couple every now and then, and I post it when I do.
I am truly the "blind squirrel!"

Oh yeah, but I am still looking for my nut(s)!

Fisherman United

Yes that is certainly accurate but you can glean some information if you wade through the fluff. And based on the rude comments I can see why you would feel even less welcome. Mean spirited rants and political opinions do nothing for the site. Just add accurate posts with as much information as possible and we can all benefit.

I am constantly amazed at Party Boats that have web sites with "reports" that are 3 months old and older and then ***** about business. If they can't even attend to their site and customer base why should I trust their ability to put me on fish.
I always post accurate descriptions and want to know a number of factors. Any one spot is only as productive as many varied conditions- tide, temperature, wind, time of year etc. So post accurate reports and create some good karma. Shades
