Unfortunately there is no way for us (moderators) to combine threads. We can move them from one forum to another, but can't combine them. Moving them both to the same forum wouldn't serve any benefit. I see that you've quoted and cut and pasted certain parts between threads, and anyone is free to do so. I don't want to eliminate one person's thread as less important than the other either. I was trying to keep my comments on this topic to the thread on Mike's board, but wound up chiming in here on an off topic issue. I'll try to get back to that topic there to keep things concise.
Dragon,
Hope you're daughter's better soon.

You know because it's a lot harder to fall out of the boat or capsize it in the Spring, Summer and early fall.
When the water is colder hypothermia sets in quicker. A PFD assures if you die they can still find the body. When the water is warmer you will be able to swim longer. Is this their reasoning?
It has nothing to do with them finding your body. The reason is that if you are not wearing a PFD, you have to tread water or swim. The loss of energy will cause the hypothermia to set in even faster. If it sets off hypothermia by even 5 minutes, it may save your life.
Over the years, when you look at fatalities in NY, you will see that about 50% of them are in small crafts under 20 feet in cold water months. Unfortunately, many of them are on row boats, kayaks and canoes, which are not registered vessels.
These non-motorized crafts utilize ramps, access and law enforcement paid mostly by boating registrations. They count against our fatality rate but yet pay no reg fees.
Yeah those kayak guys take up a lot of space at “your ramp” I mean w/ those wheels they must be almost 36”wide, and how about all those pollutants and emissions.
I even heard that there tax money was only spent inland.
Wait are you mad because they catch all of “your fish”?
Dragon,
Where in my post did I say anything in terms of entitlement?? I did not say you take "my fish" or "my ramp".
All I did was state facts that can be looked up in the Boating Recreational Report on the NYS Parks 7 Rec site.
I am in no way saying you cant fish or utilize resources. I just think it stinks that motorized craft pays and gets hit with the fatalities that were not from motorized vessels. Its a black eye that boaters have to defend constantly.
You roll eyes but all I did was state facts. I dont understand the problem with that??

I have already mentioned that I may have been over the top w/ my sarcasm
And perhaps read into the last part a little defensively, for that I apologize.
Myself I rarely use boats rams to launch from but will occasionally use a DEC ramp
When I have an outing with the Kayak club I am involved with.
I do have to pay for access in certain locations as well as being required to obtain night
Permits.
Also I was not aware that as a homeowner, my tax dollars do not go towards marine
Law enforcement.
And as far as registration goes, if somebody up in Albany wasn’t already thinking about
It, thanks for giving them the idea, lol.
Let that be a lesson to every-one…..don’t drink and post! (PWI)

Dragon,
Sorry. I didnt see your mention of sarcasm.
And to be clear, the state reimburses local marine enforcement from the boat reg fees. Some counties do spend more but it is difficult to decipher the exact figures because some of it is tied in with aviation.
They have he idea already. Just been a logistical issue in doing it besides the legislature actually doing a bill.
