Who has the best pizza in the Tri-State area, I would say the top three are:

1. King Umberto’s, corner Meecham Ave & Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont.
2. Carmelas, Merrick Rd., Massapequa
3. Umberto’s, Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park

The best pizza was Pizza City in Howard Beach. Since they are gone these would be my top 3.

1. New Park Pizza in Howard Beach
2. Carlo's on Jamaica Ave. off Woodhaven Blvd.
3. Pizza Park on Ave. U in Brooklyn.

Carlos Sicilian is good, but in general can't hold a candle to Joe's that occupied that location during my earlier chilhood.

The best sicilian was from Maria's Bakery, Jamiaca Ave and 87th street, probably long gone.

Howard Beach, the Old Lennies, New Park (oh yeah), good stuff.

Dani House of Pizza on Lefferts across from Regents Row may have been the best.

Been awhile since I lived in Queens, still searching for good LI pizza.

My job frequently takes me to the NJ from Boonton to Whippany, the pizza over there is actually better than LI, what's up with that ??

Did you ever try the Resorviour tavern in Booton? It's on intervale road right behind the Jersey City resorvor on rt. 46. They make their own sausage and got great pie.

Best Pizza

Brooklyn has always and still has the best pizza around. CaptainTrip is on the money with his picks.

1. Tutonnos in Coney Island
2. Grimaldi under the Brooklyn Bridge
3. Spumoni Gardens 86th st.(Square)
4. DiVinchi 18th ave (Square)
5. Joe & Pats Victory Blvd in Staten Island makes a thin crust round that is delicious.

There is a pizzeria on avenue J in Brooklyn that makes a great pie as well but I forget the name.
