-------- Sat 7-19-08: Part 1 n 2 : 8am -8pm --------

--------Sat 7-19-08: Part 1 : 8-12:30 trip.------
Planned the Annual trip with Rich , Nick, Rob -R-N-R
for Flukin the N-shorth mons ago - didn't get out last year or even the year before--so i geuss it's really Semi Annual...
prepped and cleaned the boat for the 1st time this season...really-- took me til midnight to get everything
squared away..bought 2 new poles so we would all be on even ground..competition. Last time they out fished me...

meet @ the dock between 7:30-8
all on time 7:31am --
in the water and under way by 7:45am--
(little did I know wouldn't be back until...8pm)
-------------------------------------------------------
-low tide @ 7am
-high@ 12:30pm
-water 75
-air from 85 in am to 92? HHH in afternoon
-breezy 5-10 until 1pm - slight cloud cover
-------------------------------------------------------
Conditions could not have been better- perfect drift
, slight . slight chop - but a calm smooth steady drift

good thing since everything was prerigged for just such a situation...

Rich had 1st fish on --Bluefish @ 8:11am ..very good.
then it was robins galore-- just glad we were picking fish left and right robins n blues--double headers on both..8:16am
Nick had the 1st fluke on -15"-..8:31am

this is what I had hoped for -- constant action.
9:07 Rich had his 1st fluke on..16.5"

it pretty much went on like this the entire time..short fluke, robins, blues--great action..Rich was pounding the Robins
when we would have a lull - they would ask why they stopped biting...i kept sliding off the spot of small fish looking for larger fish..they had to mixed in there some where...
10am --- bam! big fish on - largest of the season for me ---23.875" and 6 lbs.- beautiful fish - swam away like a rocket acroos the surface..wonderful sight.

(no more jokes about outfishing the fisherman..)
I had a 20" not to soon after as well..last drop had a 18" as well...but those were the only larger fish in the mix mostly small 15-16" fish..

what a great day!!!!!! so glad it was action packed -
each man had about 50 fish --mostly robins --but still a great mix..
--done @ 12:30pm
had to get them back to the dock by 1Tounguem -
---------------------------------------------------
total:
Rich : {Magic Bus + homemade pink teaser}
( he was the only one really counting -just because he had a robin every minute..You know it's alot when There are Batman and ROBIN jokes thrown in there..)
-42 robins
-8 Fluke , 15- 16.5" ( one on the homemade teaser n sandwich combo)
-2 Blues , 19-20"

Rob:{crazy Chart + grenn teaser}
20-30 robins? a double header
8-10? Fluke , 14-16"
6+ blues , 16-19" - double header

Nick: {Sandeel + Blue drk Green teaser)
20-30 robins?
5-6? Fluke , 14-16"

Me: Glow + homemade sandeel teaser-teaser lasted 2 blues)
25 robins
1 Keeper Fluke ( 24" @ 6 lbs)
12 short Fluke ( 1 @ 20" , 1 @ 18")
8 Blues ,18-19"( - blue / Robin double header)
-------------------------------------------------------

after I let them off @ the dock --I figured it was so hot on land That I would just go back out and Relax until the heat lifted..--w/ a breeze it's the best place to be on a hot HHH day.. was really planning on being back by 5pm..

see .....part 2..................
______________________________________________________________________

-------- Sat 7-19-08: Part 2 : 2pm - 8pm --------

Dropped R-N-R @ the dock @ 1pm after a good moring of action...but since the 12:30 h --wanted to get in on the good tide bite
back out ---- stopped for more bait -- ( 11 packs on the day--)
-------------------------------------------------------
-high@ 12:30pm
-water 75
-air 92? HHH
-breezy west 5-10 until 1pm then it died completly and switched SSW @ 10 -25 mPH! blowin hard by 7pm- slight cloud cover by 5pm
-------------------------------------------------------
Stopped on the spot where I picked the 24" earlier in the day...done drift and I was already thinkin about where to move to....bigger fish are out there..so I went to a spot that I haven't fished in Mons..

2:35pm :1st drift -- 5 fluke - 2 nice 18-19 shorts and one keeper in the mix --21.375"

drifted the same run a few more times pick in blues and fluke and robins again..until about 2:45 when the breeze died completly....now I was starting to BAKE--seriously..Bake..so Hot and uncomfortable ..but the bite was good..drank water and more water --waiting for the breeze to return..if I could just wait it out..
so hot..

finally the breeze retruned @ 3:20pm --slowly @ 1st and then it was like a fan turned on outta the SW- 1-15 then...20-25mph? gusts @ 30? so windy 3-4ft short white capped chop..rocky..

but the bite turned on hard as well....I had the best bite I have ever had!!!!!!!! just because of the consistant Quality of fish... most fish were 19-20"
with 4 more Keepers in the mix and many large or larger fish dropped..I know there were some doormats in there, some where, and I wasn't leaving ...because as long as the fish kept biting ..I was stayin...bite lasted for nearly 4 hrs...................

everytime I would pass the pile --i would get a Blue or a robin and restart the drift... I didn't really need the bait...I would miss a fish and another would shoot acrros and nail it..bounce , bounce Bam fish on...crazy..net down....measure 19-20" back in bounce, bounce...miss...miss...miss.. bam..keepr...--just insane.........................

I have NEVER dropped the net so many times---one right after another...some winged in the side came up and I thought I had my doormat--when a 20" fish comes up sideways...man that puts a rush in you..when the nearly 23" fish came up I thought it was another sideways fish...must have been pushin past 6lbs...SO fat..

by 7:30 the wind was too much and bite slowed so I called it and bounced and smashed my way home leaving the water several times..Wohoo! I was flying high.

back to the dock @ 8Tounguem
home by 9pm--what a day...my hands I like pin cushions..
------------------------------------------------------
total:
5 Keeper Fluke ( 21 - 22.25")
40+ shorts ( unreal: 25? that were 19-20.25")
15 blues ( 19-23")
20 robins?
------------------------------------------------------
-Thanks Grandma -3yrs goes fast--still like yesterday.. God Speed..sky was pefect.
-Happy B- day to my Niece - 7 yrs goes faster..
-Smiled all the way in and still smiling today..

it's nice. just bring your own hose.
------------------------------------
High@ 7pm @ the inlet--
water 82
air 83ish - bright strong sun..
wind S-se @ 10
------------------------------------

fishing by 2pm..decided to try a spot where I had weaks last year and just fluke the spot in hope on weaks , fluke and poss. seabass..or anything,
last of outgoing and begining of incoming..

1st fish..on @ 2:30 - 21" weak

lost another 1/2 way up an hr later --
shoot...

had one mirco 13" fluke..

then had another on the teaser--20"( but sadly lost that magic teaser and rig @ 6pm..)
same drift --snagged a nice Kingfish 16"

begining of incoming..

drift got too fast for my bucktailin...

switched to cats n retreive...had another fish on..snagged him in the side..thought it was a monster but only 19.5"

a few bites here and there...nothing big..

nada for hrs..
-------------------------------------------------------

sunset 1 bite and fish on then off..shoot
then had a tiny bite and a Blacksea ...the smallest fish I have ever had bite this lure and hook up with...

done by 9:15pm

worked hard for those 3 weaks..

fileted them @ the dock...funny where a guy next to me lost his glasses @ the dock...the very same reason why I could fish today..
gave him a light to look..but no way to see in that South shore coffee..

New Post--post --------7-12-08

This is what I did instead of fishing today....
fixed and modify mail box...
intalled new motion sensor.
hung a bunch of things around the house

- mail box post was a tough customer --chain saw ,, circular saw and it still tough to cut down..

added some walnut accents to hide some slips...
now we don't have the worst mailbox in the hood any more..
