" if a rod breaks in many spots --it's a goos rod- you just asked it to do more than it can....if breaks in spot it's a lemon. "

I wrote the guy I bought these from and he's sending me 2 more blanks + one free of my chosing...just had to pay for the shipping.
he seems to stand behind is blanks... still dont know if I do..
guess I will build one more...it's practice. I guess,, just hate losing the reel seats.

SB ~ Mem Day Wkend Bassin - Part 3 ~ 5-28-12

SB –PJ ~ Mem Day Bassin ~ Heat wave~- Part 3 ~ 5-28-12

Crazy Heat wave we had this Holiday weekend .. had dig out an A/c unit already..

To the water early again – just before sunrise – no fog today just clear skies.. zero wind.

-------------------------
air 67 - 89! + HUMID Felt like august
water 61-64
wind ~ ZERO!!!!!!!! dead calm made it a steam bath...
high @ 5 am
--------------------------
Started off great with a bass on 2nd cast..
But then the searching began….and it would last nearly all day with spurts of action here n there

Found some bass rolling but not like the day before – this time they wouldn’t take anything – too much bait in the water it seems.. I could see there stripes racing through piles of bait..
Tried for nearly 2 hours for something to change or more fish to should or a frenzy to start – condition were perfect for it.. but it never happened..

Took off… hit some of the same spots as days before.. found a friend there and we got into a nice consistent bite.. until an educated fisherman kept cutting off our drifts, short drifting us and running over the fish…he KILLED the bite. He got so close to me one time I was about to ask him if needed a drink.. .. only one thing to do = Leave the area.

Headed further east - but didn’t find anything but a lone blue
Spent too much time searching and looking for a good drift as it was just TOO Calm..

Tide near the end so I headed back to the spot where the drift cutter was.. cooled off by now. Some fish surfaced within 2 minutes..
hooked a nice 26" fish -- look down as he's coming in and there was an entire school of bass following..about 20 or so of different sizes made passes some nice big keepers in the mix as well right below the boat...sick sight…
had 2 other fish on consecutive casts .. but then it died and heat just got to me.
So I took a quick break and ripped the boat apart looking for any flip flops so I could dunk my feet… only found a very old and hard soled pair of tevas hiding under the casting deck.. felt like flintstone sandles – terrible but they would do for a few moments… cooled off.
But so was the fishing for me.. waited for the incoming.. still nothing developed – tried around the numerous Bunk pods – nothing..

Called it quits @ 2pm.. should have left earlier - really DEAD CALM today.

total------------------------------
10 Short bass ( 19-27") most 24-25"
10+ Blues ( 19-24")
3 Fluke ( 16-18")
3 Robins
lots of missed bass hits today..should of had about 20 fish again today.. but kept missing the subtle/ light hits.
many blue bite offs as well..
-----------------------------------
- many low flying planes today.. tons of boats out as well
- More and more blues each day…….

Still haven’t found my all out spring bite this year…

SB ~ Mem Day Wkend Bassin - Part 2 ~ 5-27-12

SB ~ Mem Day Wkend Bassin - Day 2 ~ 5-27-12

Had only the Am Tide today.. up before the sun. needed to be home by 11am for the party prep..

to the ramp @ 5am

on the water by 5:30am..
greeted with a slight fog slowly being burned back by the rising sun as I approached it..

-----------------------------------
Sunrise 5:27
High 4ish
water 61-64
wind - ZERO until a slight breeze @ 9 am..then nada again
air - 70 am --- 82? by 11? n humid
-----------------------------------

wow ~~ what a scene this AM.

Made a few drifts searching for an ice breaker -Bass on 2nd drift.. Ice broken .. moved away hoping to repeat yesterday @ the same spot….but like yesterday never made it there either on the way – saw some birds and a totally different spot..… went to em.. nothing spotted ...then a fish rolls.. bam fish on – blue bite off.. ouch lost a go to lure..

tried again. – this time bass... good small but good. Made some moves,,,fish rolling here n there.. had to focus on which way to cast as they were rollin / breakin all around me now..

had a HUGE fish on -- drag n line flyin straight out @ light speed..... then he popped off..

just very small bass n blues mixed in breakin all over..
guessed where the bigger fish were:
had a HUGE fish on -- drag n line flyin straight out @ light speed..... then he popped off..

..I was right – next drift ! bam had a 28"

same drift next cast ~ a 34" on .. both had blasting tail breaching hits , followed by massive 1st burst runs straight out..sweet sight and sounds.

Just like a switch it slowed ~ so I moved to find the bass from yesterday.. nada.. not there?

moved to find em in a spot form last week..
yep. ~ but more blues mixed in every day...lost more rigs than I would like....had bass trying to take the lure from the hooked blue @ one point... and I was routing for stripes to win it back..when *SNAP* another rig gone..

got caught in a short rain shower-- wasnt expecting that....crazy spine cloud front in the sky// then cleared to a crisp blue sky.

not much time left...when I nailed a really nice Keeper – football shaped tough fish just shy of 33”.. but fought like a 36”.. crazy runs. Released the stocky guy – headed in.

done @ 10:15 - got home @ nearly the time I said I would – 11:15 ( No DH)
----------------------------------------------------------
Total:
3 keeper Bass(28.25", 32.875", 34")
16 Short Bass(18"-27.5")more than half were 25-27"
7 Blues(18-23")
5 robins
----------------------------------------------------------
- calm and smooth as glass all am..27.3mph cruise @ 4k is a nice way to travel from spot to spot..
- saw a friend @ the very end of my day as bass began to roll..spoke for awhile - exchanged some info/recon..and spoke about how we noticed the mid sized class of bass are getting bigger each year... a great thing.

What a great morning ! The sun up alone was worth the trip – have keepers nearly right away didn't hurt either- finding fish in a pattern rather than blind casting for them is just the best.

SB ~ Mem Day Wkend Bassin + another Rod Break ~ 5-26-12

SB ~ Mem Day Wkend Bassin + Breaks ~ 5-26-12

Took a later trip today – out late last night Playing poker..home @ 2am..not doing the sunrise trip.. got everything prepped and prepared my new St Croix Avid blank I just finished building this week..put the new stradic on and was running the line through it..and it SNAPPED ?+?&*$&!!!( 2nd one in a month) I am livid @ this moment... took an hour to semi brush it off... start installing a brand new Fly rod holder and it BREAKS too (*^$%(*&%** !!!! stripped the screw and spun the threaded sleave.. shot...now I am really frustrated..smash the sucker right off...wife comes out and says “time to go to the water...best place for you right now”..so I leave ASAP.
“Just don't drive angry..”
I took my sweet time..to the water @ 1:30pm..

-------------------------------------------------------------
Wind SW 10-15+
water 61-65
High @ 4:30 pmish
Air :80+ ? on land - 72ish on the water in the breeze
-------------------------------------------------------------
tried to hop scotched my way out from spot to spot but many boats around..
had one bite on the 1st set up – missed it.....was going to try again but decided to get away from the hoards and I knew there were more fertile waters ( hoping at least).
had a spot in mind but Never made it to the destination ..
marked some fish on the way......... dropped into them......bam O_ fish on the 1st drop..! -- .07 drift, nice mid size schoolie bass.. set up again. and hooked up again..Bam- O_ .. nice keeper ! Ok I am better now...all the breaks this am fading..not worth the energy.
Released him and set up again..not an all out bite but very consistent – the most consistent this spring thus far..had a great pattern going. Wind picked up and had to go heavier.. but still worked..2 more keeps..@3 & 4.. one was a snub nose / bull nose.
Picked 11 stocky 27” short bass , 3 keepers and other species mixed in – including some more very unwelcome Blues.. all those 27s made me feel like I had a keeper each time..sick bassin'

once the tide stopped/ switched-- the bite died and the fish took off....

moved to another spot but only managed much smaller bass to 26"...still had a another consistent bite - 10 more of them.

Extremely satisfied called it @ 6:30pm..knew I'd be back @ it @ pre sunrise..
home before dark to BBQ & reset for tomorrow.....

----------------------------------------------------------
Total : all released
3 Keeper Bass ( 31.5" , 31.75", 32.5")
21 Short Bass ( 16- 27") half were 27"
6 Blues ( 18-21")
5 Fluke ( 15-18")
7-8 Robins
----------------------------------------------------------
- massive Bunk school , not much on it..
- saw/ hears a WWII squadron in the very distance pop smoke in formation.. cool..but too far.
- Tracked a Storm with “My radar” AP..looked like it would barrel down the sound but just smashed the island in half by Huntington but never made it to me..come hear the thunder...
- lighter boat traffic than expected -- 3 trailers..weathermen rock.

Sb ~ 1st Bass on the FLY 2012 ~ 5-24-12

Sb ~ 1st Bass on the FLY 2012 ~ 5-24-12

prepped everything the night before...took me ahour to find all of my fly gear..
Got a good close parking spot too..every minute helps for the after work DASH... on the way to the while going through a green light..Got the finger by a guy @ a stop sign...not sure why...that's why there's a STOP sign there - you can't just go when you want....you didn't have the right of way Moby D.

made good time. to the water @ 6:45
in the water @ 6:50

------------------------------------
Wind: zero
Water: near 60
Air: 64
Low @ 8:30
------------------------------------

1.5hrs to fish..

watched those powerful T-storms all day.. could hear them through the Bunker style walls @ work..

Saw a Split in the storms which opened perfectly for my time @ the water...I could hear and see the storms just west and North as them rumbled over the sound..

Very calm - mostly zero wind..perfect for my 1st Fly outting..easy casting.

Took a half hr until I had any signs of life...a calico crab hundled into a rock with a small 2" fluke next to it. Lots of Salad floating by..a few i thought were fsih bumps..

then I finally had an actual hit.. nice feeling - gets you fishing a little harder once you get that 1st hit..
another 1/2 hr passes with nada..until a fish follwed the fly all the way in and takes a big swipe/ turn @ the last moment..missed it.

another 1/2 hr passes..now in the final moments and very end of the tide..a fish grabs the fly and runs @ me..got em' hooked up. nice little fight from a small schoolie..

Gave it a few more casts until the top half my Orvis goes flying off...time to go..reeled it and the line in called @ 8:35..

always just glad to have any fish on the fly or even interested in it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Total:
1 Schoolie Bass (18")
1 Follow Swiper
1 Bump
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- tons of steamers just rolling in the tide and on the shore? weird - I guess the gulls were full or the clams were bad...picked a few up and they were pissing @ me..so they were alive...
- crazy gnats ~ fished with the hood up peeking out , resisted uses the bug spray
- not much bait around me @ all..

really nice night ~ glad I went.. Started poring as soon I got home..perfect.

SB – PJ ~ 1st Keeper Fluke & Blues 2012 ~ 5-19-12

SB – PJ ~ 1st Keeper Fluke & Blues 2012 ~ 5-19-12

Got some new tires for the trailer late Thursday swapped them on quick the day before -- good thing as one of the 10yr old rims looked like it was about to fail...

Left early in the Am as I was out of gas for the boat. Stopped to full up _ in and out quick_ to the ramp by 7am
– low tide and the bugs were bad… Fish rolled right next to the boat while @ the Dock. Fished while I waited for Dave @ 7:30 ~ right on time.
Under way and into the bay – met by a breezy NE wind.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Water 55-59
Wind NE 10-12
Air 66-79 pleasantly warm by midday. FULL Sun.
High 11:16
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stopped @ a few spots.. searching .. had some time to search before High… nada everywhere we went for about 2 hrs.. Had one bite. But it was a robin ( not a good start)

Made a big Move…Saw birds working up on the shoal in the monster fleet of flukers…marked fish below…a good sign.
Hooked nearly right away…Fluke and a keeper – 1st one since 2010..thank goodness for these new regs..if they were the same last year I would have had keepers every trip last year…
Stayed for a little while with the armada. Picked the 1st Blues of 2012 , few more fluke and too many robins…but no BASS yet.
Made a move towards MS – when I made a detour to a spot we like.. all alone. Gave it a few drifts. A robin here a fluke there. Blue bite off…then the birds started working just west of us..got near em and they left..( it’s been like that this spring) – stayed in the pattern 1st drift – nailed a nice Bass 27”.. a very cool sight was there were 2-3 other bass following the hooked bass.… 2-3 drifts later nailed another @29.75” and a gain – 2-3 other bass following the hooked fish in trying steal what he had..…stayed a little too long trying to get another.. headed back to the original plan..

Stopped along the way on a spot Dave suggested – never fished it before. Gave it a shot..1st drift .. nailed another schoolie and again this fish had a follower…. Made a few drifts and got another..no followers this time. … a few more drifts and went back to the Original Plan again..

The original plan…didn’t really work out as we got back too late….about 20 min into the way too quiet air…the birds start working now east of us…resisted chasing for one drift – but then we moved. Get there to see fish boiling…cast into them… bLUEs.. 3 in arrow on 3 casts….drifted away from them..and started hitting a few bass.. picked away @ them one every other drift or so..with a robin / blue/ fluke mix as well.. most consistent action of the day..and we were casting with the wind and with the drift..but it worked. Fish were hitting hard on the drift down retrieve…Finally nailed a NICE fat football shaped 33” Bass..made 3 nice runs. Dave hooked up @ the same time with a just short 27”…made a double release..
Stayed for a little while longer but didn’t do much after that.
Checked a few spots on the way back ..met a bunker school. Nothing on them…YET..

Called it another long day @ 6pm

A really really nice day on the water.. so far this spring has been very nice rain during the middle of the week .. sunny n nice for the weekends..it’s also been good to me with keeper Bass..

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Total: All released. 12 of each :
- 2 Keeper Bass ( 29.5”, 33”)
- 10 Schoolie Bass ( 22”-27”) most 24-25”
- 1 Keeper Fluke ( 19.75”) 1st since 2010…skunked in 2011
- 11 Short fluke ( 15”-19”)
- 12 Blues ( 19-24”)
- 35+ Robins..mostly Daves( sorry buddy)
- 5-6 missed bass hits..2 nice fish on & off for Dave.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

-quite a few Muggers out today……all alone in a few spots and a few guys get up so close I thought they wanted to talk..weird.
-Saw a clam raker boat with what looked like a make shift sail? For clamming?

Building another rod for Memorial day weekend..really rushed this one into production. Might actually get out 2 times this weekend instead of having to cramp it all into one trip…these marathon days are exciting but rough..still rockin again when I got home..couldn’t really relax when I got there either because my wife had friends over for the Preakness ~ so into the basement to work on another rod I am building for Memorial day weekend..really rushed this one into production.

$200 - for rims n tires . sweet deal. not galv - so I will have to monitor the paint on these

Now I have a spare. not a very good one.. but it's a spare..

RB 201~ Fast track St Croix Avid

3s70mF
Avid series
St Croix (SC-III) Graphite Spinning Rod Blank Model #3S70MF. This is a 1-piece rod blank that is 7 foot long. It is classed as a Bass/Walleye Rod with Medium power and a Fast action. Line weight 6-12 lb; Lure weight 3/16-5/8 oz. Butt diameter is .510" and tip guaged at 4.0. Avid Series rods in a Gloss Carbon color.
the last rod I built broke after the 2nd use...SAD Roll

and I have 4 other blanks form the same dealer--- 1/2 price factory seconds,,,( never again) cheap -- but I would rather have the rod full price and put so much work into it than have it break 2nd trip out..

So I am not going to put in as much time on this guy..

started the simple handle last night 5-16-12.. uses EVA in between made this a quick handle to put together in 20 min..

guides are getting a functional one wrap.. no tip wrap..
if it lasts to the winter - I will consided sprucing it up.
the good reel seal gets the nod though..gotta have that.

update: 5-22-12
Sanded the handled down and put the hook keeper on Sat..Got all the guides on in 2hrs Sunday night,.- the guide foot adheasive was the biggest time saver..solid contact wiht the blank . I also didn't perservarate over the waraps as they hit the foot.. some are just functional.. still looks good - got 2 coat of 1 part epoxy on them last night, just have to glue the butt on and she's ready to whip..sweet. FAST Build~

SB- PJ - MS ~ Sun UP to Sun Down Spring Bass w/ Dave ~ 5-12-12

SB- PJ - MS ~ Sun UP to Sun Down Spring Bass w/ Dave ~ 5-12-12

SB- PJ - MS ~ Sun UP to Sun Down Spring Bass w/ Dave ~ 5-12-12

@ the ramp by 5:30 - Dave already there..

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wind - zero-5 in the am until 8 - then a fan West - SW 15-20+
Air - 44 am -- 76 by 3pm -BRIGHT sun but the wind made it cool all day.
water 53- 58
High @ 5:30AM
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IN THE WATER AND UNDER WAY @ 5:45
Forgot the sunglasses -- back under way @ 6am
Water just starting to move out.....

Wind was zero – in the AM – love it. Calm n quiet- even the lure hitting the water seemed to make too much noise..
2nd cast – fish on! We had a great start to the day – made multiple drifts with either a hit or a fish on each..2nd fish was a nice 27”..with others being 22-23”

Moved when the boats started to move in..

Still haven’t been marking fish where they have been in years past…dropped in on a few spots to see if they are there yet..NADA

Headed to the spot I had 6 keepers a week ago = Worked – started getting fish even 3rd – 4th drift.. No fish chasing.. if you hit em on the head you had a fish…reeling back in was just wasting time..( but we did anyway..just in case..)
Had the 1st keeper of the day. Nice 32” 820am

Wanted to hit another spot before we lost water. Only picked up a fluke and a sundial…drove around looking for fish for the next 3 hrs… Nada..Did see the 1st sailboat race of the season..
Then Wind picked up HARD…every sail boat racing.. headed in..
poked around under the wind.. found a bunch of very small bass.. but at least it was bass..and where there small fish there might be big fish.. tried for an hour ++ but only shorts..

Decided to head back to the orig spot as the tide rose..and get back closer to port.. just in case if the wind and waves got worse..
We fished the same area as the Am for about 1.5 hrs without a hit… on the last drift…I said “this is dead ..let’s move”
Just as the words Move came out of my mouth…We a had a Double hook up of keepers…Both drags zipping and ran us around the boat..awesome..34.25” and 31”….355. Glad we stayed out for the return of the tide..
We ended up staying of course ..another 2.5 hrs.… and picked up another 3 keepers as well as a few shorts..
Last fish was a nice 32”.. decided to end the trip on a high note..
Called it @ 6:30

Awesome day.. a little long and little windy…but well worth it.

pd

MS - PJ ~ 1st fluke 2012.. Slow day..~ 5-6-12

MS - PJ ~ 1st fluke 2012 ~ 5-6-12

got a late start again today...fixed some tackle issues this AM from yesterdays trip..loose tip, wind knot line, rod swap. leader swap..etc..

To the ramp at 1130
On the water @ 1145

Many, many trailers for this time of year. usually it's 5-6..

Zero boats in the slips..n only a few in the mooring field. Many boats coming back as i was gong out...hmm.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Wind 1O - 15 NE .. Slowing to 5-10 by 3 - changed to south @ 430
Air 62-66
Water cool 52
High 12 15 - super high. Moon tide
---------------------------------------------------------------------- Unlike yesterday Had a rough start today...
and it would last just about all day.. seems I was making poor choices in spots??? not going back to where I had 5 keeps was the 1st mistake..I really was waiting for the Blitzing to good crazy... birds were everywhere .. and fish would come up quick then sound even faster..took a few hours before I saw my 1st bass.. but I was hitting a few Fluke ( 1st of 2012) with lures intended for Bass as well as a nice surprise sundial and a few micro Bass...really small bait size..

Also foul hooked a small fluke with a leader loop through his body..looks like he grew from a Juvenile with it through his side & looped around him.. I actually snagged the leader - so when the fish came up it looked like he was floating side ways @ me .not hooked???
wacky..I cut the leader and set him on his way.

Wind against time made for a terrible drift..

4 guys trolling near me were doing very well..hitting the horn for hook ups...they def limited on Keepers.

took ALL DAY - but in the 11th hour - finally just put the lure in the right spot as they came up..hit a nice keeper to End the day @ 5pm..released him and called it a day.

Total: --------------------------------------------------------------
1 keeper bass (30.125")
9 very small schoolie bass (12-16")
10 short Fluke (14-18")
1 window pane / sundial (14")
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Had a really tough time getting the boat on the trailer straight @ low tide - guy next to me had the same issue... tons of sand on the ramp - like a beach..( maybe I should of aired down)..put in 4WD...Went to pull the boat out and all 4 wheels were spinning and baot wouldn't move - took 2 tries but I got her moving up and out of the water..
Crazy end to a very so-So Fishing trip. But still an excellent Boating trip - Did much more Driving than fishing today..

SB-PJ-MS ~ Cinco De Rapido Bass Blitz ~ 5-5-12

SB-PJ-MS ~ Cinco De Rapido Bass Blitz ~ 5-5-12

Just about to leave for the water early…got a Last minute call and Had to take my parents to the air port @ Noon..
so my plans for a N-S trip: AM weaks south & Pm bass north would be postponed...PLus with the thick fog - it wasnt really going to happen anyway..

Didnt get on the water until 1:30pm...completely missing H tide.
But not missing the fog...still pretty foggy and would be almost all day.

-------------------------------------
H @ 11:15
Water - cold 49-53
air : a cool 62-65 - Over cast n foggy ALL day.
Wind - very light NE 5-8
-------------------------------------
Water still reading cold. @ 51
Tried a few spots quickly here and there - for nada..saw a small fleet fluking already..These new regs have everybody out early – seasons past it was me and maybe 2-3 other boats..good for the local tackle shops.
I was thinking about sticking it out in the area..but decided to head out..( good move.) Ran into a friend who'd been out all day already..got the scoop on the AM bite. Thanks.. and continued with my plan..

5 min. after we spoke..2pm . BAM ~ fish on !~ 1st BASS of the day...and a nice big one ~ just shy of 34". Great fish – released him quickly and made another pass..

Felt a soft pick up and had another bass.. nice 27”…

Redrift…and same spot –Bam – another keeper..just shy of 32”
3 drifts = 3 fish . nice. Then they made me work for it… took another ½ hour until I had another spurt of fish back to back drifts..

Another keeper and on the very next drift – a really big fish…light pick up set the hook and ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ- big heavy drag pull…the came up and rolled and got a really good look @ her….”whoa”…..then a 2nd run and the hook popped lose – She straightened the hook…. estimated 38”? That’s 2 years in a row.. near the same spot..around the same time. That that happened…Next year I going to get a look @ you up close..

Took another Hour until had a hit.. and it was another 32” – watched this guy hit..

had a somewhat consistent bite for 3 hrs.. picked up some shorts in between the larger fish.. 5 shorts 15-27"
really didn’t want to leave -- but I just had to know what was going on in other waters...5pm.

Ran for a half hour until a saw what I have been waiting for all winter ~ Screaming terns stacked one over the over diving in squadrons.. packed tight into a n elevator sized area…lasted 15-20min.. I only managed one fish running and gunning with them.. but it was a nice healthy spring bass. 26"
changed tactics n stopped chasing them ..just drifted into them-- worked better
1 more short 25” and 1 more keeper @ 29.25" ~ 605pm

last fish was - 1st sea Robin of the season..yeah!!! headed back to towards port….poking into a few more spots on the way but didn’t produce a thing..

sun just peeked out for a moment..called it a GREAT day @ 7:30pm

total: all released
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6 Keeper Bass (29.25",31.062",31.625",32",33.75", & 38"??? - hook straightener..)
9 Shorts ( 15-27") mostly all were 22"-26"
Not many missed bites - very slow n soft pick-ups..
1 Sea Robin.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- a few foggy ghostly vessels. Research Ship? And a Tug..
- Used my new Buff for the first time—great item..Bonefish style..
- Got a glimpse of the Super Mooon as I rinsed the motor in the moon light..

Awesome spring day/evening..

SB ~ WINDY Yakin Rod Break ~ 4-29-12

SB ~ WINDY Yakin Rod Break ~ 4-29-12

Extremely late report…….Sister Fiancé’s Dad died this week.

After a great Day Saturday with Ad n Dave – decided to hit it again this time with the Yak for a stealth approach.
Was a little worried about the wind though…
--------------------------------------------------------------
Wind – NW @ 25+ - Kickin..
Air 54
Water 58-62
High @ 6:20
---------------------------------------------------------------
Well I was right about the wind….
Got to the shore a little early and didn’t want to spent more than 3hrs in it… so I took a quick nap in the new truck for a n hour with the wind and cool air whipping through the windows.. nice way to spend a late Sunday afternoon..

Rested …Got out on the water @ 5pm - I don’t think it mattered really as the wind was just too quick..
Just made everything rough – casting – paddling - drifting too fast..etc.

About 10 casts in – I heard a weird clicking form my new rod I just built…weird…a few more casts and it shattered…STRANGE.. never had that happen before..
Great , Broke the custom rod after only 2 days of use -- 2 months to make...
very sad..

Never did find the fish again.. missed a few bites and picked 2 small 17” bass – so at least I wasn’t skunked. Also Saw another yak pick up a small bass on the troll @ the same time as mine..but that was it.

Kept @ it right up to sunset.. Should have made a major move earlier – but I was stubborn today just hanging in the same sport waiting for it to break loose @ sunset....Never happened.

Not the best of days…
oh well , back to the bench to crank out another rod.

Done @ 8pm

2 Schoolies ( 15”, 17”)
