went to the LI fishing Expo @ the Mariott ex 58---- 15 min form my house.. nice when the show is so close..
Not a big show.. and mostly geared for the surf fisherman.

Had the intention of buy a rod -- manya G>Loomis... but Stopped by a booth woth rod builder Steve Petri.. had tons of blanks

Bought 2 old stock Rogue blanks for $60 -- blanks worth $350 new..
1@ 10-20 1/4-3/4oz 90.125"
1@ 6-12 1/4-5/8. 85.875"

also got some Fuji seats and some cork...but it looks like I will need a few things from Mudhole to do the job..: ($96 more worth..)

1/16" tip ID .. Need 2 tip tops fuji..

Cork butt ends= 1/2" long
1@ 9/16 insert -1/2"

1@ 19/32 insert - 9/16"

5/8 dia @ the end... Look for corks
Front cork set 3"
Rear cork 8". At croix = 7.25"

2 hook keepers
2 plastic rings to hold the top corks in place

How to affix corks to blank..

Each rod:
$30 for blank
$15 for guides
$20 For Cork/ seat kit
$4 for tip top
$2 for thread
$1 for sticker
$2 for epoxy

$74 each...

1984 Treasure Found === Nick Karas Guide to Saltwater Fishing ~ 2-4-12

While Digging through some old bins & cleaning out the basement this winter-
I found a few treasures of mine:
1983 & 1984 Nick Karas Guide to Saltwater Fishing both signed to me @ the Boat show of that year. It's really great to see these again..I thought they were thrown away long ago.

Just picked up 2 new twin 2012 Shimano Stradic 3000FJs

Nice to have 2 new reels - Nicest reels I have ever had to start the season... $149.99 ea on the Bay..

We'll see how they hold up.

-The bail wire is smaller than the Saros.

-the clicker is different...they changed the shaft to Plastic gear? WhY?I will be closely monitoring that.

-Wider body than Saros

- Handle is smaller as well. but the new X-ship brought down from the Stella is suposed to improve the amount of pressure you can put on the handle / fish.. we'll see about this as well..

- Doesn't even come close to loading 145yds of 20lb braid on..I over loaded the real @ 125ish..takes more like 110yds.

-trying out the NEW Power Pro Super 8 ...havent bought new braid in a few years..suposed to be smoother casts and silent..we'll see about that as well.

Well the way it's been acting - I never thought it would make it to see the flip to 113,000... but it did this AM.. Just as I rolled into the train station P-lot -- on Que.

got to sell it soon..I look like I might get it though Feb..then sell.

Have the o4 WJ just sitting in the driveway. waiting ...

Changed the Oil ( 38 degrees )- took me an Hour to get the drain plug off...man that thing was on there,.. had to put the Jeep on ramps to get more leverage...finally got it..took both hands

48,492 miles....sweet ...

I have only been Driving about 3k per year.....so in 8 more years --- should have only 73k...on it..

Inspected the systems. Looked it over..Have some more fluids to change..possibly in spring.

Aired up the really really low tires ( 14,16,front 21,22 rear)

Gas @ $3.65
