Caught the outgoing tide last night and had a consistent pick of cookie-cutters from 25-32". They were pretty finicky - nibbling on the bunker chunks instead of inhaling them, which led to 10-12 runoffs. Most hits came on floating chunks. Had a nice SW breeze which made for good wind with tide conditions.
Finally feels like summer and last night was perfect on Western LI Sound. Hot, sunny, glassy conditions and a full moon rising over the horizon made for a comfortable evening but unfortunately the bass didn't cooperate. The spot that had been producing of late showed a few signs of life but certainly not as much as the past weeks. Here's Jake with his first striper. He did a great job at the helm - hawking the sonar all night and even spotted a nice pod of bunker passing by on the surface while the rest of us were BSing. Nice job Jake - you earned it!
Got out Thursday night 7/2 and caught the last of the incoming. Saw Pax out there and he hooked us up with some live bunker he had netted earlier. Set up on some structure and worked hard for a few fish. Marked a lot of life but not many takers for all of the effort. Beautiful night on the water though.
