The Best of the Best
Our “straight shooter” Products Editor never fails to amaze me. This year he has outdone himself with his recommendations for the “best of the best” in fishing equipment no matter what type of fishing you do. It is a logical presentation of excellent equipment only exceeded by the best equipment for your fishing success. story

Is there anything better than topwater fishing? Not for me, whether it's popping plugs in the surf for striped bass and bluefish, walking the dog with a big Super Spook or pulling a weedless frog over the lily pads for largemouth bass and big chain pickerel, the anticipation of a topwater hit is purely exhilarating. The jaw-dropping strikes get the blood flowing and offer a whole new aspect of fishing, especially to a soft-plastic finesse fisherman like myself
The Massachusetts Department of Energy and Environmental Affairs issued a press release this past week announcing the completion of 15 fishing and boating access projects across the state. The combined projects cost $2
Summer is officially here now that the first report of a great white shark sighting is at hand. Researchers from the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy happened to be in the area when the shark was spotted a little ways out from Nauset Beach
I don't know any surfcasters who think shore fishing for stripers is better than it's been in past years. The general consensus is that it's getting worse, and a fair number believe the fishery is in trouble
I've not fished anywhere in the Pacific Northwest now for years but I know one of the places I'd put on my "Must Do" list if I was to get out there next week. That place is the one I talked about in my previous column
Review: Ecooda ERS 3000 Spinning Reel Under the Eposeidon Outdoor Adventure, Inc. label, the Ecooda (Royal Sea) ERS 3000 all metal, aluminum body spinning reel is a real deal
If you've followed my blog for a while, you should know I make it a point to learn a new fishery each season. A few years back, I felt complacency creeping in so I decided it was time to shake things up a little
With more and more oceanic areas being described as "barren" and "fishless" it only makes sense for nations to become more cautious about where, and to what extent, they allow heavy fishing pressure to be put on stocks. Along those lines, President Obama is looking to make a broad region of the central Pacific Ocean off-limits to fishing, energy exploration and other activities
Ever dream of a cooler that can hold ice for up to 14 days? The Canyon Coolers 50-quart Outfitter is built brutally strong featuring a premium polyethylene RotoMolded shell filled with Huntsman High Density PU foam, made in the USA. This virtually indestructible shell has been known to stand strong while bench-pressing a 7,000lb truck, so it's certainly strong enough to take on anything the toughest conditions or any angler can dish out
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) I FISH NY program, in cooperation with the Town of Brookhaven Department of Parks, Recreation and Sports, will offer a free freshwater fishing clinic will on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the Town of Brookhaven Beach at Lake Ronkonkoma from 6 p.m

New book by Noreast's own John Skinner!

A Season on the Edge chronicles a season of surfcasting from the shores of Long Island. These stories draw the reader into the experiences and the atmosphere of each trip, and are told with a level of detail that presents useful techniques and strategies that can be applied anywhere along the striper coast.
